Apostolic Commitments of Students

All seminarians are asked to engage in some apostolic work, although first year seminarians should get settled down in the seminary routine and with their studies before venturing out on apostolic activities. There are opportunities to help with the catechetical programs in neighbouring parishes, to visit the sick in the hospital, to visit people in retirement homes, to assist with prison ministry, to participate in the activities of the vocation club at the seminary. Returning seminarians are usually aware of openings to help with parish PREP, RCIA and Lifeteen programs and will assist new seminarians in finding a suitable apostolate. Students arrange their own transportation to parishes when they go for their apostolic work.

The Rector contacts the coordinators of the various apostolates at the end of the academic year and requests written feedback on the performance of the seminarians.
