A Day In the Life (College)

Daily life in the College Seminary is exciting and challenging. Beginning with meditation and Mass in the morning, each seminarian is invited to take responsibility for common prayer, personal prayer and study and community and apostolic life. Daily classes and academic assignments take up the bulk of the day. Under the guidance of the Rector, their Spiritual Directors, and their Seminary Formators, the seminarians are encouraged to be active participants in their own formation for the pastoral life. Special emphasis is laid upon a serious but joyful liturgical and communal life. A daily schedule follows:

Weekdays

  • 6:00am Meditation in Abbey Church
  • 6:30am Mass in Abbey Church, breakfast
  • 8:30am – 11:25am Classes
  • 11:55am Midday Prayer in Abbey Church followed by noon meal
  • 1:25pm – 4:10pm Classes
  • 5:30pm Vespers in Abbey Church
  • 6:00pm Supper followed by community time
  • 7:15pm Vigils in Abbey Church or Office of Readings
  • 9:00pm Nightly Silence

Sundays

  • 6:40am Meditation in Abbey Church
  • 7:10am Breakfast
  • 8:30am Conference in Room 300
  • 10:00am Mass in Abbey Church
  • 11:55am Midday Prayer in Abbey Church followed by noon meal
  • 4:30pm Vespers and Benediction in Abbey Church
  • 5:55pm Supper followed by community time
  • 7:15pm Vigils in Abbey Church or Office of Readings
  • 8:00pm Holy Hour in Minor Seminary Chapel
  • 9:00pm Nightly silence
