Fee Payment, Refund and Transfer Assistance

Payment of Seminary Fees

  1. Tuition, room and board and student association fees are payable at the beginning of each term.
  2. Payment can be made by cheque, cash, wire transfer, and e-transfer.
  3. No cash payments over $1000 per semester.
  4. The Seminary of Christ the King is a qualified institution for Canada Student Loans.
  5. All fees for theology students will be billed to their sponsoring dioceses or religious communities.
  6. All fees are payable in Canadian funds. Anyone paying in foreign currencies will be given credit at the prevailing rate of foreign exchange.
  7. Foreign students pay the same fees as domestic students.
  8. Students in need of a student loan should contact the seminary registrar about the application process.
  9. Students will not be financially penalized for late payment of fees.
  10. Statements of grades will not be issued to students who have outstanding accounts with the seminary.
  11. After consulting with the seminary financial officer, the student may pay his current semester fees in four monthly installments on a date to be mutually agreed upon.
  12. Students with outstanding fees at the end of a semester will not be issued academic transcripts nor be permitted to register for subsequent studies at the Seminary of Christ the King until their accounts with SCK are cleared.

Refund and Transfer Assistance

  1. When a student leaves or is dismissed from the seminary during a school term, he will receive a refund on a proportional basis for tuition and room and board fees that he has paid.
  2. Student association fees are not reimbursed.
  3. Sponsoring dioceses or religious communities which paid the fees of a student will be refunded on a proportional basis in the case that the sponsored student leaves or is dismissed from the seminary.

In the event of emergency or permanent closure of the Seminary will guarantee a proportionate reimbursement of student fees as well as compensation of $500 per student who transfers his course and credits to another educational institution which can satisfy our former course requirements.

With regard to academic transition there are two cases to be considered:

  1. Students transferring from seminary to seminary
  2. Students transferring from seminary to university/college.

In both cases, the Rector and Director of Studies, with the Registrar’s assistance, would be in dialogue with their counterparts at the new institution to facilitate as much direct academic transfer of credits as possible. It should be noted that it would not be possible for all academic credits to transfer for reasons such as differing curricula between institutions.

For those students going to another seminary most credits should be transferable.

In the case of transfer from seminary to university/college it should be noted that each institution has differing standards for credit transfer. Seminary of Christ the King will make best efforts to facilitate transfer.
